STEP OUT OF THE BOAT
Hey you,
This week, I did something that no one in my cirle has done, no one. I created my first LinkedIn Audio event: The Secrets of Confident Speakers. It's happening on September 8, 2024 @ 1 pm MST. Please sign up here!
Now it is a big, scary thing, okay? This event is not just for people I know; it's open to everyone! My expertise will be on display, my ability to answer any question that comes my way will be tested, anything could go wrong!
I thought about all of these possibilities, but I created the event anyway. You know why?
Because I have faith in a God who is bigger than me. My big, Heavenly Father said to step out of the boat, and I did.
Jim Rohn said that we are the average of the 5 closest people in our circle.
Is that true for you?
If you look around you and you find that your circle is not big enough, not aspirational enough, not powerful enough, not prosperous enough, here's what to do.
Step out of that circle. Step out of that boat.
How do you do that? Well, glad you asked.
Peter was in that same situation. Remember him? (Read Matthew 14: 22 - 33)
In the middle of a storm, he was on a boat with several other fishermen who were as frightened as he was. That was his environment at that moment.
So how did he break away?
How did he become the disciple who walked on water when everyone was afraid? When everyone was telling him, "Don't do it, you'll drown, that's not Christ there! You don't know what will happen!"
He kept his eyes on the Lord. He fixed his eyes on a new environment, and he had faith in that new environment called Christ.
Let me tell you, faith in God will make you step out of the boat even when everyone around you is saying no, or even when they don't see the possibilities.
His instructions will make you bolder, bigger and better. I have to confess that I am not as confident as people think. I come across as confident because I dare to trust God.
As long as you have faith in God, you will keep on going higher and higher. God knows the end from the beginning, so when you trust Him, you are heading towards that expected end. When you stay afraid, you stay small and weak.
So here are a couple questions to ask yourself this morning:
-
Where am I afraid?
-
Who else in my circle is afraid of this thing?
-
What does God say about this fear in my life? Have I brought it to Him?
Right now, stop and confess your fears to God, and ask Him to fill you with faith to help your unbelief. Ask Him to make you brave and courageous. He honors such a prayer. He really does!
That's not all you have to do though. You also have to make a plan to step out boldly. Don't put much emphasis on the outcome. Focus on stepping out of the boat, in spite of what your family and friends think; in spite of what society might say.
The victory will be that you did not stay small; you did not stay afraid. That in itself is walking on water.
Carpe Diem!
Lisa
