Stop Nagging and Start Being a Marketer (in your family)

#family life making adjustments umfy Mar 24, 2021
To all the girls who hear their mothers when they open their mouth 🙄
To all the girls who never intended to be a nagger BUT….
To all the girls who aim to be to calm, cool and collected BUT....

STOP NAGGING AND START MARKETING
I know that everyone hates nagging. Women seem to do it a lot, not just because we more actively recognize what needs to get done, but because we sometimes don’t stop to think of the best way to get the results we want.

Instead of being strategic, we do exactly what we saw our mothers do, or what we see from the matriarchs on television who yell at their spouses and their surly kids, their curlers falling out of their hair, and Madea-styled bathrobes draped over braless bosoms.

If the goal is to get through to your spouse or your kids, can I suggest that you begin to see yourself as a marketer? A marketer makes the product seem irresistible by helping you see why you need it - appealing to your pain point. What if you could do the same when you want to change or introduce a habit to your family, or to your boo? (The article continues after the Basement Chronicles promo.)

HOW TO BE A MARKETER AND NOT A NAGGER (cont'd)
Slow down and think about the things that you desire for your relationship and for your family. Some will be harder to achieve than others, and it is in those situations that you want to strategize. For example, trying to get the kids to exercise on a daily basis,  I sell the dream of “ strong boys who can run fast on the basketball court”. It sustains them for all of 15 minutes! Ha!

When it comes to my boo, I go straight for the pain point, for the thing that he will no longer have to deal with if we can change this habit, or introduce this practice into our lives. It usually works when I really focus on the benefits of the change that we need.

He does the same to me, and I succumb to the tactic every time. For example, he’ll remind me to ‘put your keys in the same drawer, so when you have to leave the house in a hurry, you know where they are.’ Pain point right there because I am trying to be on time!

HERE'S THE LESSON IN A NUTSHELL
Learn to be a marketer to get better results in every relationship. Girl! Don’t anybody want to be home with a nagger during Covid!

⁉️ QUESTION ON MY MIND THIS WEEK
How do you deal with your nails after having gel tips on for a while? The salons are now closed because of COVID and it’s a good thing because my nails have become fragile and thin, after two months of gel tips. Anybody experienced that? What do you do to nurse them back to health? I’d love to hear your strategies for keeping your nails healthy. YES I’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! Comment below, or send me an email [email protected] or connect with me on FB Messenger or on IG @lisamdublin.

Check in with your sons to see how they’re handling the technology. Many of our sons are being left behind because they are somewhat embarrassed to ask for help.
