What Happened When I Decided to Show Up

If you’ve ever struggled with consistency, please read this!

Over the last two months, this crazy growth has been happening in my Facebook group, To All The Girls Success Club (please join if you are a girl and you want a consistent source of inspiration and keys to more success in your life).

The group membership was stagnant at ~120 members for NINE MONTHS, and I kept wondering how to bring women together in a fun, positive way. I kept trying little things to see if I could make it grow.

One day in December, I tinkered around with the Facebook Messenger room in the group, and lo and behold, a couple people came into the room. The next week, I tried it again, and up popped a friend, Sanue, who was herself the leader of Where Ladies Talk, a Facebook group with a very large following. Yes, go ahead and join that group too! It's awesome!

I call Sanue a midwife because after our conversation, she was inspired to invite HUNDREDS of her own members from WLT to join TATG.

A couple other midwives took on the challenge and invited HUNDREDS more. It happens to this day where one person will invite dozens of their friends at the same time. I kid you not. I saw the numbers jump every day, and I realized that I had the opportunity to create something good if I committed to showing up.

So while my friends helped me to birth that first membership explosion, what has kept the group going and growing (apart from the GRACE OF GOD!!!) is consistency! I show up every morning (except Tuesdays) at 4 am MST with a message of inspiration. People have begun to make TATG a part of their morning routines.

I have a new understanding of CONSISTENCY, and I would like to share those nuggets with you:

  1. It’s easier to be consistent when you do things you like, at a time when you can. It’s easy for me to come online at 4 am, because I am up anyways, and it is literally my happy hour - the time when I am most awake, alert and energetic. I’m happy I decided to do things my way, instead of what the metrics said.
  2. It’s easier to be consistent when you have a clear purpose for showing up. I come every day with a topic that is part of a series, which is part of the general topic for the month. This month, we’re focusing on Health, and so we call it Movement Month. The topics in this category are endless and relevant so I never run out of things to say.
  3. It’s easier to be consistent when you keep it simple. That’s the thing. I don’t have any bells and whistles. Sometimes I have a guest though most times I don’t. But I’m simply teaching and talking from the life that I live anyways - the books I read, the experiences I have and the revelations, thoughts and observations that pop up in my mind all the time. And that simplicity makes it easy.

Are you wanting consistency in your own life? In what area? Whatever it is you’re trying to do regularly, can I ask you to do a little introspection to see whether you have too many barriers to your efforts?

βœ…  Is the time working for you?

βœ…  Is it simple enough?

βœ…  Why are you doing this anyways?

Keep it simple. Focus on a clear purpose and do it your way.
