Girl, Your Life is a Ministry
Oct 19, 2020
Hey, do you know your life is a ministry? I don’t mean it in the religious or governmental sense - oh gosh no. Ministry is a word in the dictionary that simply means “to give service, care, or aid; attend, as to wants or necessities”. Soooo, you're technically a minister :)
What would happen if you treated your relationship with yourself as ministry? What would it look like if you took the time to minister to YOU, to tend to your spiritual, emotional, physical, social and all other needs. I am learning to look at self care as ministry. I am not a machine. I need rest, love, security, food, sex, emotional support, and so much more.
If I don’t minister to my needs, I find it difficult to minister to the needs of my boo, or my kids, my extended family and my friends. One of my favorite motivational speakers, Eric Thomas (@etthehiphoppreacher) said, “you can’t jump a battery with a dead battery.” Same with us women. We give so much to everyone. We need to take time for ourselves so we can recharge the lives of those we love.
In a way, I am learning to minister to my spouse, you know?. It changes everything. While I walk on the treadmill, I’ll be thinking ahead to his day. What did he say was happening today? How can I minister to his needs? What does he need right now? Looking at my relationship with my spouse as ministry somehow draws me into a tighter focus on him, and makes me more nurturing.
It’s the same with my boys who are all different and need different things from me at different times. One is big on conversation. One needs to know that his judgment is deeply respected. One son just needs assurance through lots and lots of hugs. Same with my extended family and dearly beloved friends. If I minister to people, especially those in my inner circle, I will reap the rewards.
I hope you see your life as a ministry today. Not just to other people but also to yourself.
WHAT I LEARNED THIS WEEK:
Confess what you want in your life; it will come to pass (tweet this out now!)
I have written down, and regularly confess the BRAZEN things I want in my life, several times a day. Some are promises from Scripture, some are from my own vision. Seriously girl, try it because it works. Death and life are truly in the power of the tongue.
QUOTE I LOVED THIS WEEK:
‘I am thinking up a plan, that when it is hatched, will bring blessing to the whole wide world.’ William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army
